At
Dan's, we perform major & minor repairs,
complete restorations, annual inspections, STC'd
& custom modifications for Piper PA-18 series
aircraft. We are Alaska's premiere Supercub
refurbishers. We do many restorations each year as
well as more that 30 annuals per year. We don't
limit ourselves to just PA-18's we also work on all
of the Piper line of fabric aircraft.
In particular we specialize in Ceconite covering
and bush plane modifications. By working on just
one kind of airplane, we are able to know
everything about that kind of plane.
At Dan's Aircraft a complete restoration is a
project that takes between three and four months,
involving hundreds of man hours of labor.
We disassemble the plane and remove the old fabric.
The wings are inspected for damage and repaired as
required. The engine is removed and the fuselage is
completely stripped of all parts and then is
sandblasted. Next, the fuselage is put in our jig
and straightened and repaired after which it is
powder coated to prevent rust and corrosion. All of
the fuselage components are reconditioned or
replaced then reinstalled on the fuselage. New
hardware is used during the assembly as well as new
cables, fuel lines and wiring. It is during this
time that the modifications are done. After the
repairs and modifications are finished the airplane
is covered in new fabric and painted then
reassembled using a customer supplied engine &
prop. In the end the plane is better than it was
the day it came from the Piper factory.
